Clinton presents Red, White & Blueberry Festival July 3-4, 2009

 

Make plans to celebrate Independence Day with Main Street at Clinton, La.

Friday, July 3, from 7 p.m.-10 p.m., enjoy band music “United We Jam”, street dance, patriotic program and fireworks at 8:30 p.m., and open house at downtown businesses. Craft and food vendors are welcome on Saturday.  There are two new downtown eating establishments, Main Street Market Deli and Josephine’s Restaurant.

Saturday, July 4, celebrate Independence Day at Clinton Community Market. Enjoy our community spirit and celebrate with our great businesses and over 100 vendors. Blueberries and blueberry products will be available, as well as pies, cobblers, jellies, and food by Feliciana Delights and great vendors.  Enjoy antiques, art, plants, produce, collectibles, gifts and always lots of surprises. No charge for vendors or festival attendees. 

Tickets for children’s games with prizes, inflatable amusements, etc. are priced separately at $1 or $10 for an all-day ticket at the information booth. Lots of fun. A limited supply of signed and numbered commemorative posters for this year and year’s past will be available at the information booth. The artist and winner of this year’s poster contest, Kathleen Simpson, will have signed posters available.  Proceeds will be used for the Red, White & Blueberry Festival expenses.

 

Gospel choirs will be performing, as well as music by Bayou Blasters, downtown July 4 at Landmark Bank porch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free. Interested gospel performers should call Lynn at (225) 936-0382. 

A blueberry cooking contest will be held at Feliciana Harvest Church on St. Helena St. Downtown. Participants should bring a covered dish prepared with at least 2 cups of blueberries, with 2 copies of the recipe, to be presented on July 4 at 9 a.m. Judging will be at 10 a.m. Categories for prizes include breakfast foods, jellies & jams, desserts, or other.
